Jacket Women Knocked Out of ITAs

TYLER, TEXAS - Day 2 of the Women’s Southwest ITA Regional had its ups and downs for the LeTourneau women’s tennis team. Stars of the tournament for the Jackets were Gladewater sophomore Mary Lauren Bright and San Marcos sophomore Caitlyn Hairell. Both young ladies made it deep in the singles draw and paired to lose in the doubles semi-final.
The day started with Britney Cleveland (Houston Booker T. Washington HS) playing in the consolation quarterfinals against Hardin Simmons’ Morgan Rainer. Both women play high in their schools’ lineups and were upset in the opening round. Rainer got the best of Cleveland, 6-3, 6-4. Next up, Bright took the courts in the quarterfinals against UT-Tyler’s Kelly Vann. Vann took the first set easily, but then fought off Bright in the second for a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
