What career suits me? If you are undecided about what major or career you want to pursue, you’re not alone. More than half of American first-year university students come to school uncertain about their choice of major. Below you will find some of the resources Career Services can offer you to guide you in your search.

    SIGI 3
    Our System for Interactive Guidance and Information is one of the most sophisticated interactive career guidance systems available. You can use it to find information on hundreds of career opportunities. You can assess your own interests, explore career options and make informed choices on career possibilities.

    Career Assessment Inventory (MBTI)
    The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a useful personality and career assessment tool. Click the link to take the assessment online (login: letu; password: career105; you will get a user id when you log in). Afterwards, you will receive an email with information regarding your results and meeting with a qualified member of the Career Services team to go over them.     Career Exploration - Discovering the Possibilities
    For many students, a limited knowledge about what kinds of careers exist is not uncommon. It's not until you begin to investigate the world of work that you'll start understanding the opportunities available. First and second year students can really benefit from taking time to explore career options early. By better understanding the world of work, you can be strategic about gaining skills that will prepare you for your future career.

    On-Campus Resource Library
    The Resource Library contains information to help students learn what people in various career fields actually do on a daily basis.  Through the materials in this library students learn about where different majors lead and what is involved in each industry.  The library is located on our Longview, TX campus in the Student Services building.

    Tips and Strategies for Entering Graduate School
    This collection of information is a great place to start if you're thinking about attending graduate school. It covers searching for a graduate school, the GRE, writing an essay statement, financial aid, and deadline dates for application.

    Academic Advisors
    Your academic advisor can help you explore options in different majors and can show you course requirements. If you think you may be interested in a certain major and want to know more, make an appointment with one of the professors who teach in that field to discuss your options.
