LeTourneau University was named as one of the top four-year colleges and universities in the nation for providing dynamic pathways to support transfer students from community colleges.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the premier honor society for associate-degree granting community and junior colleges, has named LETU to its 2018 Transfer Honor Roll, and will recognize LETU at PTK’s annual convention in April in Kansas City, Missouri. The Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll recognizes excellence and success in developing community college transfer pathways. It is open to all regionally accredited baccalaureate degree-granting institutions.
“Our goal at LeTourneau University is to make a student’s transition from a community college to our four-year university as seamless as possible and to ensure their success,” said LETU Vice President for Enrollment Carl Arnold. “Phi Theta Kappa invites students who have at least a 3.5 grade point average, and these high-caliber students routinely do very well academically at LeTourneau University.”
LETU is listed among a total of 112 private and public colleges and universities nationwide, including Kansas State University, The Ohio State University, Rutgers University, and Baylor University.
Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said that universities that provide high-quality programs and services to community college transfer students benefit from the rich perspective and diversity these students bring, both to the university’s student body and to the nation’s workforce.
“The Transfer Honor Roll identifies colleges and universities that understand the unique needs of transfer students and applauds the dynamic pathways these colleges have created to continue fostering student success,” she said.
Just last October, LETU was also recognized as among the first to participate in a new pilot program launched by the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas to provide students and their families a cost-effective pathway to achieve a private university degree from LeTourneau University.
LeTourneau University is the premier Christian polytechnic university in the nation where educators engage students to nurture Christian virtue, develop competency and ingenuity in their professional fields, integrate faith and work, and serve the local and global community. LETU offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs across a range of disciplines and delivery models at LETU’s residential campus in Longview, Texas, and in hybrid and fully online options at centers in the Dallas and Houston areas.
